Why SHOULD everyone be required to Learn English?

I feel that this goes out to Hottie who posted the question ‘Why doesn’t everyone Speak English?’ and goes in support to triviatm who I believe had a good opinion. I also believe that if you are going to travel to a foreign country where their first language is not English then a person should at LEAST know enough to get around. It is not the job of everyone in the world to Learn English because it is a combination of a good portion of the European languages rolled up into one. I agree that if you do work in shops and the like in a foreign country that you should learn the language though.

You are cool to take the time to talk with the foreign exchange students at your school. You have a kind heart and you are culturally aware from your experience to know that it is good idea to speak a little bit of a foreign language if you’re going to visit the country. Your attitude is what builds good relationships between countries and maybe have peace in the world someday. I had to help 3 foreign students from Thailand, China and Brazil who were treated bad.If you find out a foreign student is having a bad time tell them about the Committee for Safety of Foreign Exchange Students. It is hard for a foreign teenager to know where to get help since for him this is a foreign country. I think you are the type of person that would help someone in trouble.
