What is the best European destination, English Speaking, besides London?
My best friend and I are talking about taking a trip and we have already been to London. We are hoping to travel within the next 2 months, so I don’t think we have enough time to learn a second language. Any good suggestions for a quick trip across the pond? We’re looking for a mid-price trip, not top of the line, but definitely not hostel either.
Thanks for all your answers.I didn’t mean to imply we wouldn’t at the very least learn the basics of the language to whatever country we decide to visit.(please, thank you, where is the bathroom? LOL) We were just looking to not have a huge language barrier problem, as my friend did when she visited Paris for a day and no one spoke any English.She really felt at a disadvantage.
It really depends on what you’re into, but if it’s another city you’re looking for and want to stay in Britain:
-the rest of England: Bath, York, Manchester, Cambridge
-Scotland (which is NOT like London at all…): Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and the Highlands
-Wales: Cardiff, Swansea
-Ireland: Dublin has gotten expensive but it’s FUN!
If you want another country, my own experience suggests language wont be an issue here:

Brussels
Copenhagen
Helsinki
Milan
Stockholm
Then again, I agree: half the fun of visiting another country is getting yourself understood
