Why must a citizen of an English speaking country learn to speak another language?
I live in San Antonio , TX , where there is a large number of illegal immigrants , and I do not have a problem with them being here because they are mostly good people who just want to work hard and make ends meet . I do have a problem with them not speaking English . I am half Hispanic and I speak very little Spanish and have a very difficult time communicating with them. I am a delivery driver and I always run into non-English speaking immigrants who want directions , or they are just asking a question. With previous jobs I have had there was always a co-worker or two who spoke no English which made it difficult for everyone who didn’t speak Spanish , my friend who is a supervisor for a construction site has this same problem with new employees who are from Central America. Bottom line is this , say I want to live France , should I learn French or should I just cross my fingers and hope every other person I run into in France will Speak English?
Hi Jacob. Learning a new language is not only good for the present but is also good for the future. It will help you expand your horizon. It is your edge and you’ll find yourself being competitive once you’ve master a new language.
A new language is not only for business but for exchange of culture and ideas as well. I strongly recommend you study a second language.
