Some Greek/HEBREW words do not have an EXACT meaning in English.
I encourage you to Learn Hebrew and Greek THEN read the bible because the ENGLISH bible is not the same as the original and some verses are MISTRANSLATIONS or inaccurate and are leading you AWAY from god.
