What is the effective/best method to learn the Korean language for a English-speaking person?
i suggest finding some sort of starter class for korean. first and foremost, learn their alphabet. while lots of vocabulary is based off of chinese characters, koreans use their own alphabet. while it’s possible to learn the alphabet from a book, it’s better to go to a class with native korean speakers so that they can help you with pronunciation, diction, etc. also, this will come in handy with pronunciations that are not consistent with spelling rules, which are many.
once you’ve got a good grasp on grammar, read newspapers, watch korean movies and tv shows (they’re getting really good these days) and try to find a korean community where you live, or at least some native koreans.
