How long would it take me to learn Japanese?
I’m 16 and want to move to Japan so bad!!! I know for sure that by the age of 23 I will be living in Japan making my life there, so lets suppose I moved to japan today and I’m 23 how long would it take me to learn it? I honestly learn languages quick since I did Learn English pretty quick, and I have so much interest in learning japanese and trust me when I say that when I’m interested in something I don’t rest till I’m good at it. So how long would it take? Please =)
For one, it all depend whether or not you would have a teacher helping you out. [ Which WILL cost money by the way. ]
Also it depends on whether you just want to speak it. If you want to read and write, it’s going to take alot more time. Plus theres four basic ways, Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, and Romaji.
Not to mention how fast you learn, how much time you would have to study, and the amout of money you would be willing to pay for books and such.
All in all, I’d say five years to learn to speak and MAYBE learn Romaji.
Ten years if you want to speak, read and write it.
