What you need to do is buy a bunch of English-language movies that have English subtitles. Watch the movies without subtitles and try to pick out individual words. If you don’t know what the word means but can recognize it as an individual word, look it up in a dictionary. If you can’t pick out what they are saying, then it is okay to use the subtitles, but attempt to pick it out by listening first. Work on it slowly, maybe at a rate of one movie a month. By the time you move on to another movie, you should know just about everything that’s being said in that particular movie. This will also tune your ear to the language. There is a report of a German woman who learned English simply by watching the same movie once a day for 30 days straight.
When it comes to speaking, don’t literally translate from your native language, since it will come out sounding bad. Only use words and phrases that you have heard native speakers use. For example, if native speakers say “I am 23 years old” don’t say “I 23 years am old”. The key is to imitate phrases said by native speakers. In this way you will learn to speak well without ever having to study grammar.
When it comes to accent practice, the best accent reductor I have found is music. Try to find love ballads in English since they tend to be sung slower and clearer than other genres such as rap or heavy metal. Attempt to imitate the pronunciation of the singers. Eventually you should develop a good accent.
