Does anyone have experience learning english in an American school after previously speaking another language?
I’m writing a paper on ELL’s ( English language learners) and needed to ask a few questions.
Yes, I have.
I graduated Elementary School overseas, came to the US as a 6th grader and then graduated (again! lol) within a month or so. You must be wondering how that’s possible but remember that in some countries a school year is usually from March through November whereas most schools in the US have it from September through June. So long story short, b/c of the different months, I was able to re-graduated, if you would, from Elementary School.
So I went to Elementary School (barely), Middle School and High School – all here in the US. I now go to a junior college in the US, planning to transfer to a four-year university pretty soon.
